Subject: Zoning Ordinance Amendment – Caretaker’s Residences | Location: Citywide |
The City of Brawley intends to amend the Zoning Ordinance to allow for caretaker’s residences as an accessory use by right on lots zoned heavy commercial (C-3) and light industrial (M-1). Caretaker’s residences are permanent residences established on commercial and industrial properties that allow an on-site employee to live in close proximity to his/her place of employment. The terms “caretaker’s residence” and “caretaker” will be strictly defined to prevent abuses of these units as unpermitted rentals. The City recognizes the value of on-site caretakers in ensuring businesses’ ability to provide security, clean facilities, and good customer service.
