Update on the February 8, 2026, Homicide – Second Suspect Arrested

The Brawley Police Department hereby issues an official update regarding the homicide incident that transpired on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in the 1600 block of I Street.

On February 13, 2026, Genaro Lemus was apprehended in connection with this homicide. Mr. Lemus was subsequently taken into custody and booked at the Imperial County Jail.

Following further investigation, the Brawley Police Investigations Team determined that a second suspect remained at large. The suspect, identified as Nathan Matthew Garnica, a resident of Brawley, was believed to have fled to Prescott, Arizona.
