Brawley Police Department – Traffic Stop and Medical Emergency

On March 18, 2026, at approximately 1156 hours, Brawley Police Department officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 100 block of North 1st Street on a vehicle matching the description from a missing person report issued by an out of county law enforcement agency.

During the contact, officers discovered that the driver had sustained an injury consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers immediately initiated lifesaving measures, and the individual was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The subject was later airlifted by air ambulance to an out-of-county hospital for additional medical care.
