⚠️ WEATHER ALERT – City of Brawley Update ⚠️

 

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Imperial Valley area, including Brawley. Scattered thunderstorms and showers are expected through Friday night, with a chance of heavy rainfall in some areas. Conditions are expected to clear up by the weekend, with sunny skies returning Sunday.

 

🌦️ Forecast Highlights:

  • Today (Thursday): Slight chance of thunderstorms, increasing in the afternoon.

  • Friday: Continued chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms.

  • Weekend: Mostly sunny and breezy Saturday, sunny and clear by Sunday.

🏠 Sandbags Available for Brawley Residents

To help residents prepare for possible localized flooding, sandbags are available today and throughout the duration of the rain event.

If your property has experienced flooding in the past, now is a good time to prepare. For homes that have not previously flooded, the risk remains low, and sandbags may not be necessary.

 

📍 Sandbag Pickup Locations (Limit: 5 bags per household):

  • Fire Station No. 1 – 815 Main Street, Brawley, CA

  • Fire Station No. 2 – 1505 Jones Street, Brawley, CA

 

🛠️ Shovels are available, but supplies are limited. Residents are encouraged to bring their own shovels if possible.

👥 Staff will be available at these locations to assist those who may need help (e.g., elderly, disabled), but please be prepared to self-fill if there is an emergency response commitment.
