Foreign Trade Zone

Imperial Valley Foreign Trade Zone

The Imperial Valley Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) is located within the City of Brawley, the City of Calexico, the City of Calipatria, the City of El Centro, and the unincorporated Area of the Imperial County.

Foreign Trade Zones are sites in or near U.S. Customs and Border Protection ports of entry which are considered outside formal U.S. Customs territory – although physically in the U.S.  The federally-approved FTZ designation allows U.S. based firms to reduce, delay, or altogether eliminate Customs duty, thus retaining and creating jobs in the U.S. by offering companies the ability to compete favorably with offshore operations.

Key benefits of the FTZ include:

  • Relief from inverted tariffs

  • Duty exemption on re-exports

  • Duty elimination on waste, scrap, and yield loss

  • Weekly Entry Savings

  • Duty Deferral

An FTZ creates jobs and investment in the U.S. through tax savings.  FTZs benefit Importers, Exporters, Warehouse Operators, Manufacturers and 3rd Party Logistics providers.  To schedule a complimentary cost/benefit analysis for your business, please contact Brawley City Manager, Rosanna B. Moore at 760.351.3048 or email rbmoore@brawley-ca.gov.
