City of Brawley Celebrates Successful Grandparents Day at Lions Center Gym
Brawley, CA — The City of Brawley proudly announces the success of its Grandparents Day celebration held Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Lions Center gym. Coordinated by the Brawley Parks & Recreation Department and sponsored by the Get Together Senior Club, the event welcomed over 250 seniors for an afternoon of music, raffles, dinner, and community connection.
As part of the celebration, attendees were treated to a special dinner—an offering that felt like a full-circle moment for many. In serving our seniors, often seen as the "grandparents" of the community, many were reminded of the countless times they’ve been lovingly served by their own grandparents over the years.
Local favorite Firme kept the crowd on its feet with a lively set, while dozens of raffle prizes—generously donated by community partners—were raffled to attendees throughout the program.
“This event showcased the best of Brawley—teamwork, generosity, and genuine care for our seniors,” said City Manager Rebecca Terrazas-Baxter. “Thank you to our Parks & Recreation staff, to the Get Together Senior Club for their sponsorship, to our volunteers, donors, and to Firme for the music that brought everyone together. Your efforts turned the Lions Center into a true home for celebration.”
Mayor Gil Rebollar underscored the day’s significance for the community. “This was our first Grandparents Day celebration since COVID, and it meant everything to see our seniors together again—smiling, dancing, and reconnecting,” Rebollar said. “Grandparents are the keepers of our stories and the heart of our neighborhoods. Today’s turnout affirms Brawley’s commitment to investing in programs and spaces where our seniors feel seen, supported, and celebrated.”
The City extends appreciation to the Get Together Senior Club for sponsorship, to the many local businesses and organizations that donated raffle items, and to residents who joined in making the event a memorable success.
