Michael Crankshaw, Chief of Police
The Brawley Police Department is responsible for the safeguarding of our citizens’ lives and property, the preservation of constitutional rights, and contributing to neighborhood problem-solving. Fundamentally the police department is called upon to deescalate potentially dangerous situations by bringing order and peace from disorder and chaos. Our mission is meeting our citizens’ expectations to help them maintain a community that is a safe place to live and work. To the greatest extent possible, our community-oriented policing practices and the support of residents and business owners work proactively in preventing crime. In our obligation to our citizens the Brawley Police Department strives to effectively, efficiently and professionally apprehend those who commit crimes against them. Our community is almost unique in the amount of vehicular traffic that exists on our city streets every day. For this reason, our officer must play a vital role in preventing injury to people and property through regulating the orderly flow of traffic in and through our City.
