Boards and Commissions
The Brawley City Council appoints interested city residents to serve on a number of city boards and commissions that provide advice and recommendations to the City Staff and the City Council.
The boards and commissions are:
Airport Advisory Commission: Made up of five (5) members appointed for a term of two (2) years. Advises the City Council on matters relating to the Brawley Municipal Airport and makes recommendations concerning the airport’s improvements, functioning and operation.
The Commission meets at 4:30 PM the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the Council Chambers at 383 Main Street, Brawley, CA 92227.

Brawley Public Library Board of Trustees: Consists of five (5) members appointed for a term of three (3) years. This is an administrative board responsible for the selection and appointment of the Librarian and staff, and approval and submission of the Library budget to the City Council.
The board has the authority to determine fiscal, personnel and administrative policies. Their duties are to develop sound policies, select a qualified librarian to assure adequate financing, to be good public relation representatives, strong library advocates, and to plan and evaluate against established goals.
The Library Board represents the community and must be persons capable of serving as intelligent and unbiased liaisons between the people, the library and city government.
The Library Board meets at 5:15 PM the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the Conference Room of the Brawley Public Library at 400 Main Street, Brawley, CA 92227.

Parks & Recreation Commission: Consists of seven (7) members appointed for a term of three (3) years. Two (2) members are appointed upon recommendation from the Brawley Union High School and Brawley Elementary School District; one (1) Council Member recommendation from the Brawley City Council and four (4) members from the public-at-large.
Members act in an advisory capacity to the City Council and Parks & Recreation Director in all matters pertaining to public recreation and parks in the City of Brawley.
The Parks & Recreation Commission meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 12:00 PM in the Conference Room of the Lion's Center at 225 "A" Street, Brawley, CA 92227.

Brawley Planning Commission: Consists of seven (7) members appointed terms of four (4) years. Should be someone who can serve the long-range interests of the community, unbound by election promises, political expediency or narrow interests.
Commissioners are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700 pursuant to G.C. §87300-87313.)
The Planning Commission meets at 5:30 PM the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month in the Council Chambers at 383 Main Street, Brawley, CA 92227.
